10/11/2010 Eureka! We have a date!

After another day of digging, I came across what could potentially be the last piece of the puzzle that is R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour: The Series. According to TVTango.com, the new series is premiering on The Hub Friday, October 29th, at 8:00 pm EST. The show is debuting with a two-part episode entitled, "Really You." The Haunting Hour will truly be an hour, albeit for only one night. That's all the info I have for now, so stay tuned for a new podcast episode this Wednesday!

10/10/2010 R.L. Stine Confirms!

Ok everyone, I promised updates on R.L. Stine's new series, and here they are. Stine confirmed himself, via his twitter, two things I had mentioned previously:

Now for the bad news: I've just been told that Cartoon Network will not be showing the old Goosebumps TV shows this year. I hope...
...you will watch for my new TV series, The Haunting Hour. There will be a special showing this month on The Hub, new kids' channel.

So there you have it; no Goosebumps, as I suspected, and R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour WILL be debuting this month. Maybe as a special Halloween treat? Who knows. Thank you R.L. Stine!

10/6/2010 R.L. Stine's The Haunting [Half] Hour

Hey all, Eric here. During this week's episode, I talked for a brief bit about how R.L. Stine's new children's horror anthology series, R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour, would be debuting this Sunday on The Hub (formerly Discovery Kids). I also mentioned how information has been scarce on the new series. Well, I did some digging, and I was able to confirm a few things, while others still remain up in the air.

First of all, the actual time slot still remains unknown. I actually might've jumped the gun a little bit, since the date it's actually premiering is unknown as well. However, I can't help but think that it only makes sense for a children's horror anthology series to debut in October. The show is in the Fall line-up, so I'm going to assume it'll be with the station's launch on 10/10/10, or close to it.

Also, I was able to find the official press release at Discovery Press Web. The press release states the following information:

This half-hour live-action children’s anthology series is based on and inspired by the master of kid horror – R.L. Stine! Anthological storytelling returns at last to television in this series that embraces the thrill of the chill, the nervous page-turning giggle and the scream that only comes when someone – or something – touches your shoulder on a dark and stormy night. The Haunting hour will take viewers, young and old, on a new creepy adventure every week. This is the show kids won’t let their parents watch by themselves!

Produced by Haunting Hour Productions Ltd.

Episode Length: 30 minutes
Episodes: 22
Genre: Kids
Format: Live Action
Day Part: Family Prime
Key Fact: Hub U.S. Premiere
Expiration: TBD

Discovery Press Web. R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour: The Series. Press release. Retrieved 2010-10-06.

This at least confirms that the show will be 30 minutes long and last at least 22 episodes. Also, from the one screen still posted at that same source, I can confirm that one episode will involve a doll (what R.L. Stine series would be complete without a creepy doll?). I'll try to post more information as it becomes available, and don't forget to tune in this Sunday (hopefully) for the debut of R.L. Stine's newest series, R.L. Stine's the Haunting Hour, only on The Hub!

A big thanks to listener Erin or sharing her Chaplin and Amelie sightseeing! Click the thumbnail to look through her photos of pieces of cinematic history!

"Since Charlie Chaplin lived the last 25 years of his life in Vevey, Switzerland - and because the train to London was hella expensive! - I decided to go to Switzerland for a few days. While there, I visited the statue dedicated to Chaplin, his and his wife's graves, and also the mansion that his family still lives in. The mansion is on a vast piece of wooded land, and unfortunately you can't go inside the property without being shot, but you can get a small glimpse of the house from the road (it's not worth a photo, though). The Cinema Rex (see photo) is where Chaplin would watch movies. He lived in a gorgeous place...Vevey is on Lake Geneva, with great views of the Alps!

Then, back in Paris, I did some 'Amelie' sightseeing in Montmartre, Paris! Sidenote: I think the French are not as impressed with the movie as people from the states are, but they and many other people of the world love American television (e.g. Big Bang Theory). I went to the cafe where Amelie worked. My friend and I sat in the spot where Amelie stood when she was writing the menu on the glass while trying not to be seen by the guy she liked. It's funny how when you watch some movies, you have to imagine what the rest of the setting looks like because you never see it. The streets around the cafe and the market from the movie are not exactly what I imagined them to look like, but nevertheless, they are very lovely streets in a very neat area of Paris."

                                                                                                                                   - Erin
